Posting

A post is one local thing you want your area to know about — an event, something for sale, a service, a heads-up. This page walks through every step and option.

The quick version

  1. Tap Post in the center of the bottom bar.
  2. Pick a category, then a subcategory.
  3. Fill in the details — title, caption, location, and date/time if it applies.
  4. Add a photo or video (optional, but it helps a lot).
  5. Tap Post to publish it to Pulse.

That’s the whole flow. The rest of this page explains each part in plain terms.

1. Choose a category

The category tells ReCult — and the people browsing — what your post is. Pick the closest match, then a subcategory to be specific.

Common categories

The exact list may grow over time and can differ slightly by area. If you’re not sure which fits, pick the closest one — you can edit it later.

2. Add the details

Depending on the category, you’ll see a few fields. Fill in what applies:

Write for a neighbor, not an algorithm. “Free jazz on the rooftop, Friday 8pm, corner of 5th” beats “AMAZING event you can’t miss!!!”. Clear and specific gets noticed.

3. Add photos or video

You can add a photo or a video clip. It’s optional, but posts with an image stand out on Pulse.

  1. Tap the media area in the composer and choose a photo or video from your phone.
  2. Polish it in Studio (optional). ReCult’s built-in Studio lets you trim, add text, adjust speed, and more before posting.
  3. Reuse something you made. Anything in your Library can be Recultivated — re-edited and posted again.

Big videos take a moment to upload. Stay on the screen until it finishes — if you leave early, the upload can cancel. See Troubleshooting if an upload stalls.

4. Reach & paid options

Most posts are free and appear on Pulse for people in your area. Some categories also offer paid options for more visibility — for example a longer-running listing or a temporary reach boost.

Exact prices and durations are always shown in the app before you confirm — you’re never charged without seeing the amount first. A Coming soon credits system for prepaying is on the way; until then, paid options are shown at the point of posting.

5. Publish

  1. Review your post. Check the title, location, and date read the way you want.
  2. Choose who it’s from. Post as yourself, or as a brand if you have one. See Businesses.
  3. Tap Post. It goes live on Pulse right away.

After you post

Post it once, keep it real. ReCult is for genuine local activity. Don’t re-post the same thing repeatedly or dress up an ad as an organic post — see the community rules.
