Safety & privacy
ReCult connects you with real people and places near you. These tools keep that safe: report anything off, block anyone you don’t want to hear from, and control what you share.
Report a post or person
If something breaks the rules or feels wrong, report it. Reports are private and help keep everyone’s Pulse clean.
- Open the post, thread, or profile.
- Tap the ⋯ menu and choose Report.
- Pick a reason and add a short note if it helps explain.
- Submit. The ReCult team reviews reports and takes action on violations.
You can report a post, a person, a message, or a whole conversation.
Flag a post that’s in the wrong place
Not everything wrong is abuse — sometimes a post is just miscategorized or stale. You can flag those too, with reasons like:
- Wrong category — it’s filed under the wrong thing.
- Business promo pretending to be organic — an ad posing as a neighbor’s tip.
- Not local — it doesn’t belong to this area.
- Expired / no longer happening — the event or offer is over.
- Spam or fake — junk, or not a real listing.
- Restricted or illegal item — see what’s not allowed below.
These flags help keep Pulse accurate for everyone nearby — a quick tap goes a long way.
Block someone
Blocking hides a person from you completely — you won’t see their posts, and they can’t message you.
- Open their profile, or a post or message from them.
- Tap the ⋯ menu and choose Block.
- Confirm. Their content disappears from your Pulse and inbox right away.
You can also block a single conversation to stop hearing from just that thread. Blocking is private — the other person isn’t told.
What’s allowed
ReCult is for genuine, safe, local activity. To keep it that way, some things are never allowed.
Not allowed: weapons, drugs, stolen goods, counterfeit goods, scams, adult services or items, illegal tickets, or anything unsafe or illegal.
Posts that break these rules can be removed, and repeat offenders can lose access. If you see something in this list, please report it.
Staying safe with local deals & meetups
Because ReCult is local, you may meet people in person to buy, sell, or attend something. A few common-sense habits:
- Meet in public. For buying and selling, choose a busy, well-lit spot.
- Bring someone when you can, especially for higher-value items.
- Keep payments simple and safe. Be cautious with anyone who pressures you or asks for payment in unusual ways.
- Trust your gut. If a deal or message feels off, walk away and report it.
Looking for work? Don’t share sensitive personal information in a post or early messages. Employers are responsible for lawful hiring — you’re never required to over-share to be considered.
Your location & privacy
- Location access is optional. You can use ReCult by picking cities by hand — allowing location just powers Nearby.
- Turn it off any time. Change location permission in your phone’s settings for ReCult, and switch your area in the app’s location picker.
- You choose each post’s location. A post shows the area you attach to it — not your exact spot.
